FAYETTE, Ala.–Artwork created by a student at Fayette Middle School is being featured on a billboard by Alabama Credit Union.
Through a partnership with a Fayette County School District, Alabama Credit Union encouraged the school’s students to submit entries for its art contest. Students were asked to create billboard art illustrating the things that make the students happy.
The winning student, Sophie Stough, received a $500 opening deposit in an Alabama Credit Union savings account opened in her name. To make the win even more exciting, Sophie’s artwork will featured on the credit union’s new sign located outside our Fayette branch.
Alabama Credit Union also donated $500 to the art department of Fayette Middle School.
“I have a lot of things to smile about in my life. So, when I was given the theme ‘What Makes You Smile?’ I knew that I had to show a little bit of everything in my life that I love,” said the winning eighth grader. “I hope people will pass my billboard and be inspired to smile!” Sophie added.
ACU Member Service Representative Carmen Myles worked directly with Fayette Middle School in the partnership to oversee the contest, saying it was an affirming experience. "Being able to volunteer in the Fayette community through Alabama Credit Union has been amazing,” Carmen said. “It gives me an opportunity to help bring such a positive and measurable change to the community that I not only work in but also live in."
