St. Mary's Bank Awards Scholarships

MANCHESTER, N.H. — St. Mary’s Bank has announced the winners of its scholarship awards for the 2020-2021 academic year. Twelve outstanding applicants received scholarships of $1,000 each. One was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for her exceptional commitment to vocation and community.

Local nurse Alexandra Lominy is now a two-time scholarship recipient from St. Mary’s Bank. She received her first in 2016, from the St. Mary’s Bank Medallion Fund Scholarship administered by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, when she was a nursing student at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Nashua.

“Alexandra is a wonderful role model for all of us,” said Ron Covey, St. Mary’s Bank President and CEO. “She is doing what she set out to do and empowering others along the way. She was the original inspiration for St. Mary’s Bank’s scholarship program, and she continues to impress and inspire us today.”

Lominy, a member of St. Mary’s Bank, has been featured in several of the credit union’s commercials and was a guest of honor at the 2019 annual meeting. She has served as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua and as a registered nurse at Maple Leaf Healthcare in Manchester.

“We are proud to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of all of our scholarship recipients,” said Covey. “We wish them the best as they move forward with their education.”

St. Mary’s Bank received over 150 applications, and the scholarship committee made their choice based on school and community involvement, work experience, and applicant responses to essay questions. All scholarship winners are either St. Mary’s Bank members, employees, or children of employees.
