St. Mary's Awards Grants to 2 Organizations

MANCHESTER, N.H. – St. Mary’s Bank recently awarded two local organizations with grants.

The credit union provided the Webster House with a grant to help prepare its youth residents to be successful adults. The $2,500 grant will be applied to the Life Skills Program, bringing college and career nights to the Webster House and teaching residents about basic life skills including banking services, and securing employment.

“We are proud to continue our long history of supporting our friends at the Webster House,” said Bob DesMeules, St. Mary’s Bank Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. “This grant will directly impact the youth and help to ensure their futures are bright.”

DesMeules has held a position on the Webster House Board of Directors for five years. “The work that they do at the Webster House shapes the lives of their youth residents,” he said.  “The Life Skills program provides them with guidance and support to take on life’s adventures after leaving the Webster House.”

“Our relationship with St. Mary’s Bank has been a blessing for us,” said Webster House Executive Director, Lou Catano.

St. Mary’s Bank approved the $2,500 grant from the institution’s 1908 Fund.

Separately, St. Mary’s Bank recently presented a $3,000 grant to the Holy Cross Family Learning Center (HCFLC) in Manchester. The grant will be used to support English as a Second Language classes for the refugees and people of diverse cultures who gather to study English, begin their path to citizenship, and develop workforce skills through hands-on training.

“Learning English removes barriers and can be the first step towards financial independence,” said Judi Window, St. Mary’s Bank’s Community Outreach Coordinator and Vice Chairperson of the HCFLC Board of Directors. “Grants awarded from the 1908 Fund honor the credit union’s rich history and mission of providing access to financial products and services for all, including immigrant populations,” said Window.
