MIAMI – High School Juniors from eight Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) visited South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU) for their annual Job Shadow Day.
Job Shadow Day offers students an up-close look at the working world. The day-long event included an orientation, interview boot camp, tour of various departments and a question-and-answer session with President/CEO Mike DiBenedetto. During this session DiBenedetto spoke about the importance of planning and preparation, having a vision for the future and becoming an expert in your field.
The program also served the credit union as a recruiting tool for its annual Summer Internship Program. Students were given a clerical skills assessment and those who qualify will be offered an invitation to interview for one if 15 positions. Since 2007, SFEFCU’s Internship Program, has given more than 100 high school students valuable work experience, providing real-world business education.
