GERMANTOWN, Md.–SkyPoint FCU will be featured as part of season two of the award-winning reality TV series, Opportunity Knock$, airing on PBS.
The credit union appears as the financing institution that provides financing to a family in the DMV to help them overcome their financial challenges and build a better life. The series is set to air on Saturday, May 4 at 5:30 ET on PBS stations in the eastern U.S.
The credit union noted Opportunity Knock$, which was recently featured in CUToday.info here and here, is designed to connect viewers facing financial challenges with coaching and financial services that help families, and by extension their communities, build financial resiliency.
As the only designated Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in Montgomery County, Md., SkyPoint FCU said it was selected due to their unique commitment to help its members and the communities it serves, gain access to the financial services needed to achieve financial independence and prosper.
“Every day, we welcome members from our diverse communities, meeting them wherever they are in their financial journeys, including those who need help navigating the financial system and understanding their options,” said SkyPoint CEO Carla Decker. “We hope viewers of the show will realize they are not alone; they can gain their financial footing and establish a plan for their financial future through their local CDFI credit union.”

SkyPoint will host a premiere event in Washington on April 17, 2024, exclusive to the media and invited guest, D.C. Mayor Bowser.
Chatzky, the featured family SkyPoint provided the financing to, and the show’s producers will be in attendance. In addition to the episode premier the event includes a Q&A session with the family.
