STRATFORD, Conn.– Sikorsky Credit Union donated $5,000 to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Stratford, CT. This national book-gifting program provides free books to children from birth until they begin school, helping to inspire curiosity, imagination, and early literacy.
The Imagination Library was founded by singer Dolly Parton with a mission to foster a love of reading among preschool children and to ensure that every child has access to books. Each month, registered children receive an age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home. The Stratford chapter was launched in 2019 and has grown significantly — currently serving 2,486 children in Stratford and has distributed more than 63,000 books to local homes.
Janet Lengel, the Coordinator of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Stratford, said, “Stratford is proud to be an affiliate of Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Thanks to organizations such as Sikorsky Credit Union, we are able to provide thousands of high-quality books to children in Stratford. This donation is invaluable in preparing our young ones for a successful future.”
“Books have the incredible power to open minds, spark curiosity, and inspire a lifetime of learning,” said Whitney Cadett, Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Growth. “We’re proud to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and their mission to put books into the hands of children in our community.”
