DEER PARK, Texas – Shell Federal Credit Union has granted John Garrison Scholarship Awards to graduating high school seniors who were selected based upon academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and response to the application essay. This year’s essay asked applicants to explain how a credit union can accommodate obstacles during their first year of college, especially financially.
More than 120 applications were received from 57 different high schools throughout Harris County. Ten deserving high school seniors were selected, as recipients for the 2019 John Garrison Scholarship award. The selected students were recognized at Shell FCU’s 82ndAnnual Membership Meeting and will be awarded $2,500 to use at the college, university or vocational-technical school of their choice.
