MADISON, Wis. – A number of Wisconsin credit unions helped support the Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl (FICB), an event where high school students compete against one another intellectually, tapping their knowledge of economics, business, personal finance, current events, math, history & technology.
Following a college bowl format, teams of students play through a bracket system similar to “March Madness,” to win the regional trophy for their school and advance to the state championship in Milwaukee. Tournament play involves teams of 4 students using buzzers to answer questions; correct answers reward teams with points while incorrect answers, just as quickly, take them away.
The first-ever Green Bay Regional FICB Tournament took place at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. Teams from Ashwaubenon High School and DePere High School competed, with Ashwaubenon taking first place and a team from DePere taking second place. Those two teams advance to the state championship tournament.
Asset Builders, a Wisconsin non-profit organization, conducts the Challenge Bowl program. Asset Builders thanked the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions, Harbor Credit Union, Fox Communities Credit Union, UW Credit Union, the Manpower Foundation, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and Catholic Charities for supporting the FICB tournament.
