BALTIMORE--Securityplus Federal Credit Union is celebratig one of its own, Jack Schiefer, for his outstanding leadership in mental health advocacy and volunteerism through a meaningful year-long partnership with TALMAR (Therapeutic Alternatives of Maryland).
Located in Baltimore’s scenic Cromwell Valley Park, TALMAR is a nonprofit organization offering therapeutic horticulture and vocational training to individuals with disabilities, veterans, and those facing mental health challenges. Its mission is to provide nature-based programs that promote healing, resilience, and personal growth through hands-on gardening, farming, and social interaction.
Over the past year, Jack Schiefer, a Securityplus volunteer leader and Vice President of Facilities, has inspired and coordinated multiple employee service days at TALMAR’s therapeutic farm. Securityplus volunteers have rolled up their sleeves to prepare garden beds, remove weeds, and create space for planting—all in support of TALMAR’s mission to nurture emotional well-being through nature.
“Jack’s leadership truly embodies our CARES values—Collaboration, Agility, Respect, Excellence, and Spirit,” said Obinna “Obi” Ndukwe, Chief People & Impact Officer at Securityplus. “He has inspired our teams to see volunteerism not just as a one-time gesture, but as a meaningful investment in the long-term mental and physical health of our neighbors.”
