SAN ANTONIO, Texas—Joan Cleveland, president and CEO of SWBC Life Insurance Company and executive vice president of SWBC Property and Casualty Insurance Company, has been appointed by the Texas Commissioner of Insurance to the Texas Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors, SWBC said.
Cleveland’s term on the TLHIGA board runs through Sept. 30, 2031, according to SWBC. The association helps ensure Texans continue receiving statutorily protected insurance policy benefits if a licensed life or health insurer or HMO becomes insolvent and is placed into liquidation by a court.
“I am honored to serve on the TLHIGA Board of Directors and support the organization’s essential work of safeguarding Texans,” said Cleveland. “Ensuring confidence and stability across the insurance landscape is paramount, and I look forward to contributing to this important work.”
Cleveland has more than three decades of experience in the life and health insurance industry. At SWBC, she oversees strategic market development, product innovation, customer experience and distribution strategies for the company’s life insurance operations. She also serves on the boards of the Life Insurers Council and the Consumer Credit Industry Association and has previously been recognized as one of the Top 100 Women in Finance.
