SPIRE CU Donates $250K to COVID-19 Relief

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn.– SPIRE Credit Union is providing $250,000 to 187 local organizations and businesses affected by COVID-19.

“I’ve heard from many businesspeople who are facing tough times, said SPIRE President/CEO Dan Stoltz, "They have been forced to suspend operations and in turn, non-profits serving our communities are suffering as giving has sharply declined at a time when it is needed most. Our core value is ‘We Care.’  We care for our employees, members, and communities. This is a time to live out that core value with our support.  We want our communities to know we are here for them.”

In April, each of SPIRE’s 20 branches, administrative departments, senior management team, board of directors, and supervisory committee were asked to decide which businesses and organizations should receive donations as part of the SPIRE Gives Big initiative.  Every one of SPIRE's 300 employees helped select organizations that were important to them and their local community to receive the $250,000.

“SPIRE was founded during the Great Depression,” remarked Stoltz, “Those were tough times, and we are in tough times now.  We want to support the great organizations in our communities at a time when they need it the most.”
