SECU Marches To $53,000 In Funds Raised

RALEIGH, N.C.—More than 180 SECU employees, family members and friends participated in the recent  March of Dimes three-mile hike in support of the Triangle area’s March for Babies walk held in Morrisville, N.C.

Fundraising efforts among local SECU branches and operations departments for the cause were once again successful, raising nearly $53,000 to help provide local programs and lifesaving research for problems that threaten newborns.  In addition, SECU branch fundraisers held in other areas across the will also be adding several thousand dollars more to SECU’s cumulative support for March of Dimes this year.

“Our 2015 March for Babies event was a huge success.  We had more than 4,500 people attend and participate, including State Employees’ Credit Union,” stated Tyler Salisbury, Chairman of the Eastern Carolina Division of March of Dimes.  “SECU has consistently been a tremendous asset to our campaign, from their candy bar fundraisers to their huge team presence at our walks.  We are so grateful for all that they’ve done and continue to do for stronger, healthier babies.”

Over the years, SECU said its employees have been known to drum up a few entertaining events to show their creativity and competitive fundraising spirit, vying for the spot as the top SECU fundraising team.  This year, Raleigh’s Contact Center employees earned the number one spot led by co-captains Kevin Rose, Meg Aull and Irma Coppola Isleem.  Their combined efforts raised more than $4,500 through several events, including FAT CAT Candygrams on Valentine’s Day, a basketball tournament, a chili cook-off and a Pie in the Face bidding contest that resulted in nine of their peers wearing a pie for the cause.
