SECU Foundation Helps Cut Ribbon on Greenfield Place

RALEIGH, N.C.–With backing from the SECU Foundation, the official dedication of an 80-unit apartment complex on Formosa Lane in Chapel Hill – Greenfield Place – brings new and exciting housing opportunities for the area’s workforce.  Developed by DHIC, Inc., Greenfield Place received full support from the Town of Chapel Hill, Orange County, SECU Foundation, and the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, among others.

The SECU Foundation provided DHIC with an 18-year low-interest loan of $2.7 million to build the apartments, which offer affordable living choices for individuals and families with limited incomes.

Dr. Donald Boulton, Advisory Board member for SECU’s Chapel Hill-Hamilton Road office, spoke at the dedication, which was attended by a large crowd of supporters.

“Funded through $1.00 monthly contributions from State Employees’ Credit Union members, SECU Foundation is having a powerful impact on communities across North Carolina,” said Boulton. “SECU members are proud to be part of an initiative that is providing greater access to affordable housing for Orange County’s workforce.  We look forward to seeing the positive and long-lasting impact Greenfield Place will make for our fellow neighbors and friends.”

DHIC has served thousands of individuals and families with supportive housing services over the last 40 years.  Greenfield Place offers quality, energy-efficient rental apartments within a four-building residential complex with a variety of amenities for residents’ use.
