EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Royal Credit Union recently donated $15,000 to local food assistance programs to support efforts in combating food insecurity in our communities in recognition of Hunger Action Month this September.
“Hunger is a pressing issue that affects our communities year-round,” said Melissa Janssen, Program Director of Community Relations at Royal. “Our goal is to contribute meaningfully to food security initiatives and support the incredible work being done by our local food shelves. This donation is a step towards alleviating some of the immediate needs in our communities and drawing attention to the broader issue of hunger.”
“We continue to see a surge in families seeking assistance, the need for donations has never been more critical. Currently, a national average of 16% of households are facing food insecurity, including thousands of children” says Deb Schouten, board member of Hudson Food Cupboard. “With these increasing numbers, community support is essential to help meet the growing demand. Every dollar donated allows us to distribute nutritious meals to those in need, with just $1 providing up to three meals. Together, we can make a significant impact in fighting hunger and supporting our neighbors.”
The funds will be distributed among several local food shelves, across Royal’s footprint. These organizations play a vital role in ensuring that nutritious food reaches those who are struggling, and Royal’s donation will help them continue their important work.
