Royal CU Cuts Ribbon on School Branch

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.–Royal Credit Union (Royal) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at South Middle School to celebrate its newest school partnership.

The South Middle School Royal site features a unique financial services delivery method with a first of its kind, custom designed and built, mobile teller cart. The cart is wrapped with South Middle School and Royal branding to “show off the strong partnership and commitment to financial education.  School $ense is Royal’s signature financial education program that operates 31 student-run credit union locations in schools throughout Royal’s footprint in Wisconsin and Minnesota,” the credit union said.

“We appreciate our long-standing partnership with the Eau Claire Area School District and now South Middle School,” said Brandon Riechers, Royal Credit Union president & CEO. “We look forward to many more years of working with area educators to make a positive impact in the lives of students.”

RU said the School $ense program offers the opportunity for thousands of students to learn to become smart savers and spenders by making weekly deposits and withdrawals at school. Students are also able to earn prizes as they save. To start the program off right, Royal presented South Middle School with a $500 donation.

In total, Royal operates offices in 6 high schools, 6 middle schools and 19 elementary schools throughout northwest Wisconsin and the Twin Cities metro. Just over 370 students work for the program each year. The high school tellers are hired team members and our middle and elementary students are proud volunteers. Program wide, participants in School $ense conduct over 15-thousand transactions and deposit over $485,000 each year.
