CULBERTSON, Mont.–Richland FCU’s branch here helped to support students at Culbertson High School involved in Jobs for Montana Graduates program.
For the past two years, the students have been involved in the Kindness Rocks project, which aims to provide a way for students and adults to do their part in making the world a better place.
When the students heard about the nonpartisan grassroots initiative “Keep it Kind 2020,” they jumped on it. The initiative asks that schools, students, and adults focus more on the word "kind" and how being kind can change lives. The students purchased the giant letters in the photo above and asked local businesses to encourage their cliental to consider being the “I” in kind and commit to being kind whenever possible.
“I believe in the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people,' and this movement makes sense to support.... We can all be the 'I' in Kind,” said Branch Manager Laurie Pearson.
Inside the CU’s branch lobby the letters, N, and D are on display, and members can step up and sign them as a pledge to make kindness a focus.
The initiative is especially wonderful, according to Pearson, because it's not just for the students, it's for everyone in the community, adults included.
