Redwood CU Teams Participate in Human Race

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Three teams of employees from Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently participated in Human Race events held in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties.

A total of 120 volunteers from RCU, including employees, family and friends walked or ran in the races, raising funds for a variety of local nonprofits. In addition to volunteer support and the Credit Union’s corporate sponsorships, RCU staff collected monetary pledges, held barbecues, auctions, raffles and bake sales, bringing RCU’s collective contributions to nearly $25,000.

The Human Race invites participants to collect pledges and walk or run a 3K or 10K course to raise money for the local nonprofit of their choice. At the Sonoma County Human Race—the nation’s largest Human Race event—RCU’s team carried banners and flags celebrating this year’s “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” theme. The Credit Union’s mascot, Reddy the Redwood, accompanied the walking teams at all three races, pausing to pose for photos and offer supportive high-fives and hugs to walkers and runners along the way.
