Redwood CU Hosts Financial Wellness Seminar with Jean Chatzky

NAPA, Calif. —Redwood Credit Union (RCU) and the RCU Community Fund offered a free financial wellness seminar featuring well-known author, TODAY show personality, and personal finance expert, Jean Chatzky. Nearly 300 guests attended the Napa Valley College event, ranging from students to people of retirement age. RCU offered the event as part of its ongoing effort to promote financial wellness in the community.

Known for her straightforward personal finance tips, Chatzky provided information and financial strategies from her new book, “AgeProof: Living Longer Without Running Out of Money Or Breaking a Hip,” which she signed for attendees following the event. The book, which is co-authored by Cleveland Clinic's chief wellness officer Dr. Michael Roizen, focuses on the vital connection between health and wealth, especially as people age. At the end of the presentation, Brett Martinez, RCU’s president and CEO, joined Jean onstage and answered financial questions submitted by the audience.

“Like Redwood Credit Union, Jean Chatzky has made it her mission to help individuals and families find a path to long-term financial wellness,” said Martinez. “We’re honored Jean partnered with us for this event in support of RCU’s commitment to providing valuable money management education and resources to our community.”

RCU said it provides a variety of financial education events in the North Bay, including partnering with local schools and youth organizations to present money management events for teens. In addition, the credit union offers extensive financial wellness resources on its website, www.redwoodcu.org, including budgeting tools, financial tips, and other information helpful to navigating finances at any stage in life.
