Redwood CU Announces Board Election Results

SANTA ROSA, Calif.–Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently re-elected five volunteer officials for three-year terms from 2017-2020. Incumbents Robert Steele, Debra Watts and Robert Wieck were re-elected to the Credit Union’s board of directors, and incumbents David Gouin and Brian Elliott were re-elected to RCU’s supervisory committee.  

Robert Steele has been a volunteer RCU board member since 1999, and is the executive product director of Underwriting Integrity and Solutions with Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty in Petaluma, CA.  He has worked in the insurance industry for forty years.

Debra Watts has been a volunteer for Redwood Credit Union since 1976 and has held a variety of positions on the board. She is retired after more than thirty-seven years of service from the County of Sonoma, serving as the Manager of the customer services division of The Permit and Resource Management Department. Ms. Watts also serves on the board of directors for RCU Services Group (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Redwood Credit Union) and on the Sonoma County Landmarks Commission.

Robert Wieck has been a volunteer board member for Redwood Credit Union since 1976, and has served on the board of directors since 1979. Mr. Wieck is retired after thirty years of service to the County of Sonoma, where he served as administration division director for the Department of Health Services.

David Gouin has over twenty-nine years of public service experience with the County of Sonoma, City of Vacaville and City of Santa Rosa, and currently serves as director of Economic Development and Housing for the City of Santa Rosa. Mr. Gouin has been involved in several local organizations such as Petaluma Ecumenical Properties, the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Santa Rosa.

Brian Elliott has over 40 years of local fire service experience. He worked for the Santa Rosa Fire Department for 33 years and completed his career as the fire chief in Cloverdale retiring in 2011.  Mr. Elliott has been involved with many community projects, including as a board member for the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center and as the public alternate to Sonoma County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). Currently Mr. Elliott is self-employed, operating a fire and life safety consultant business.

The Credit Union’s Officials have also selected their officers for the year as follows: Robert Steele as board chair, Jim Olmsted as board vice chair, Lisa Wittke Schaffner as board secretary, Debra Watts as board treasurer, David Gouin as supervisory committee chair, M. Christina Rivera as supervisory committee vice chair, and Steve Sharpe as supervisory committee secretary.
