Redwood CU Again Shredwood CU With Event

UKIAH, Calif. – Redwood Credit Union (RCU) hosted a free Shred-a-Thon document shredding event for the Mendocino County community at its Ukiah branch.

Over 200 people attended the annual event, securely shredding more than two-and-a-half tons of documents to protect against fraud and identity theft.

The shredding trucks, provided by Shred-IT, destroyed over 5,500 pounds of confidential paperwork, while Conservation Corps North Bay collected e-waste, such as old computers, monitors, printers, and cell phones for secure recycling.

“We’re committed to our community’s well-being, and that includes helping people keep their information secure. Shredding sensitive documents, such as old financial statements and bills, is one of the best ways people can protect themselves against identity theft,” said Kristie Strickler, RCU’s Ukiah branch manager. “We’re always excited to provide this free service to the community.”

Shred-a-Thon attendees also donated more than $740 to benefit the California Highway Patrol’s Explorer Program, which teaches young adults how to serve their community through discipline and a commitment to help others.
