LITTLETON, Colo.–Red Rocks Credit Union hosted a Grocery Giveaway contest as community outreach to support the community by feeding those in need through the Food Bank of the Rockies.
The contest offered the opportunity to win up to a year’s worth of groceries. Red Rocks recently fulfilled its mission to donate to the Food Bank of the Rockies by providing a check to the organization for $9,610.20, the cost of a year’s worth of groceries.
“Our communities are still feeling the economic impacts of the pandemic,” said Mitch Jelniker of the Food Bank of the Rockies. “We are distributing 50% more food each month than before the health crisis. The generous donation by Red Rocks will help us meet this increase in demand, providing 38,440 nutritious meals for Colorado families facing hunger.”
The Grocery Giveaway also allowed Red Rocks Credit to provide a unique opportunity to its community: open a new qualifying Red Rocks loan to be automatically entered to win free groceries for up to a year. The credit union awarded $25 grocery gift cards each week throughout the campaign period.
“The COVID-19 pandemic created additional food insecurity across our communities,” explained Brooke Christofferson, chief marketing officer. “As a financial cooperative devoted to helping people, we were excited to raise awareness for the Food Bank of the Rockies while meeting the needs of our members, all at the same time. We’re so very proud and honored to help support our community in this way.”
Red Rocks provided $10,979.70 in value to the winners through its grocery giveaways and a total of $20,589.90, including gift cards, grand prize drawings and donations.
