WALTHAM, Mass.— The RTN GoodWorks Foundation raised $27,000 in proceeds from its 2019 Golf Tournament held at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, Mass. The funds will help support RTN GoodWorks Foundation’s community projects and financial education efforts. As a Titanium Sponsor, RTN Federal Credit Union was the major supporter of this event.
The day’s festivities included a program with prize awards, raffles and a silent auction emceed by Billy Jaffe, an ice hockey analyst for NESN.
Highlights of the afternoon featured the presentation of a check for $20,844 to Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless representing funds raised from Walk Home 2019, a benefit walk co-sponsored by the Credit Union and the Foundation that took place in June.
Another highlight was the announcement of Nora Smith as the winner of the Foundation’s fundraising raffle for a trip to Las Vegas. Nora is an RTN member and lives in Belmont. Proceeds from the drawing raised $3,967 for the Foundation.
“Our continuing efforts to raise funds helps us support our surrounding communities with the goals of increasing access to financial education and promoting life-long financial wellbeing,” says Joan Kuhn, chair of the RTN GoodWorks Foundation Board of Directors.
During the past year, RTN GoodWorks Foundation has provided funds for Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief following the 2018 gas explosions and has sponsored youth programs and financial education seminars attended by more than 250 people. Since 2011, the Foundation has donated more than $200,000 to Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless and Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program through the annual Walk Home 5K benefit walk.
