WALTHAM, Mass.–RTN Federal Credit Union raised $1,698 in 2018 through its casual dress program called Jeans Days.
These funds were donated to support two causes. The first is credit union advocacy efforts through CULAC and MCULPAC, which are the political action committees run by the Credit Union Cooperative Association. The second is RTN’s Employee Outreach Committee projects. The funds helped support a drive to collect and distribute backpacks with school supplies to students in local schools, and sponsor and host dinners at Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen in Waltham.
On the last two Fridays of each month, RTN employees have the opportunity to wear jeans to work for a charitable donation of $2. Additionally, jeans may be worn on Saturdays for a donation of an additional dollar.
“This is a great example of how giving small amounts can add up to support credit union community projects,” said Mary Wright, RTN Federal Credit Union vice president for human resources. “Thanks to our staff who participate in this fun way to give back to our community and our industry.”
Community involvement is a core value of RTN as a credit union, RTN said, noting it supports local community projects and initiatives, and works collaboratively with members, sponsor groups and surrounding communities through financial support and volunteer participation.
