RTN FCU Donates Hand-Made Blankets to the Homeless

WALTHAM, Mass.–— RTN Federal Credit Union has donated dozens of handmade blankets and $250 towards the purchase of blankets, clothing and pajamas to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless’ A Bed for Every Child Program.

The effort is part of the Gift of Warmth Blanket and Clothing Drive that is coordinated each winter by the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA).

The blankets for infants and children were knitted by volunteers from Blankets 4 Kids, a knitting, quilting and sewing group from the Amesbury Senior Community Center, specifically for this annual drive. The generous volunteers have made and donated blankets for the past several years for RTN to give to the Coalition during the winter blanket drive.

“We are so glad to be able to help children in need stay warm this winter with blankets made by hand and with love by the wonderful Amesbury Senior Center volunteers,” said Michael Menas, RTN Amesbury Branch Manager.

Helping homeless teens, families, and individuals is a central focus of RTN’s fundraising and community efforts. RTN and credit unions throughout Massachusetts participate in the CCUA’s annual blanket drive to help those in need stay warm, particularly during the winter months.
