PORTLAND, Ore. —Providence Federal Credit Union (Providence FCU) said that for the first time in its 55-year history, the credit union has added the positions of chief financial officer, chief retail officer and chief lending officer.
These new positions have now been filled and will complement the leadership of Shirley Cate, Providence FCU’s President and CEO for the past nine years.
According to Cate, expanding its executive leadership team reflects Providence FCU’s renewed focus to serve Providence Health & Services employees and families, ensure long-term sustainability and enhance member experience.

New executive team members include the following:
Crystal Coutu, Chief Financial Officer, joins Providence FCU with more than 20 years in the credit union industry. She’s held senior financial analyst positions with Advantis Community Credit Union and Clackamas Federal Credit Union. Most recently, Coutu oversaw Advantis’ entire suite of electronic payment platforms, ensuring platform integration, regulatory compliance and profitability across all departments.
Brett Wooden, Chief Retail Officer, has helped numerous credit unions across the country implement innovative banking solutions that enhance operational efficiency and member experience. His industry recognitions include: Think Prize Finalist (2014), C Young Credit Union Professional of the Year (Northwest Credit Union Association, 2011) and Best Idea Winner (Real Solutions Oregon, 2010). Prior to joining Providence FCU, Wooden held senior marketing and strategy positions with McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union, Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union and Unitus Community Credit Union.
Tina Narron, Chief Lending Officer, has held senior lending positions at some of the strongest and largest financial institutions in the country. In addition to overseeing all aspects of lending for loan portfolios worth billions of dollars, Narron has helped lead organizational and culture transformations to strengthen credit unions’ bottom lines and improve member service. She most recently served as vice president of consumer loans for GTE Financial Credit Union, with previous positions at BECU, US Bank and Wells Fargo.
