CHATSWORTH, Calif.–Premier America Credit Union held its inaugural community Give Back Day during which more than 400 team member volunteered their time. Team members collaborated with six local charitable organizations on a day of service and volunteerism, aimed at fighting hunger and supporting local communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and Harris County, Texas.
“Give Back Day reflects Premier America’s values and sincere dedication to our mission of giving back to the communities we serve,” the credit unions said. “Hunger remains a critical issue in Southern California and the greater Houston areas. According to recent statistics, almost one in four individuals face food insecurity daily. This event provided an opportunity to directly contribute to addressing this pressing issue by harvesting fresh produce, preparing, and packaging food for those in need.”
The CU said Give Back Day leverages some of the relationships that the Premier America Foundation, the credit union’s philanthropic arm, has with non-profits to create values-aligned service projects.
It brought together Premier America team members to work collectively with partner food pantries, including Children’s Hunger Fund, Community Action Partnership, Food Share Ventura County, Houston Food Bank, the Salvation Army, and Valley Food Bank. Volunteers assisted with tasks including community gardening, sorting and packing food, readying meal kits for homebound seniors, and preparing supplies to be distributed throughout the community and across the United States. Across the six locations, Premier America team members helped provide more than 38,000 meals for people in need.
“We’re thrilled to see this day of service come to life,” said Chief Experience Officer Marci Francisco. America Credit Union Chief Experience Officer. “This is one of the many meaningful initiatives that reflect our commitment to being a mission-driven organization that makes it easier to meet today’s needs and build healthier, more vibrant lives.”
“At Premier America, we are dedicated to giving back and driving positive change in the communities that we serve,” added Rudy Pereira, Premier America Credit Union president and CEO. “It is deeply rewarding to witness the impact that can be made when people who really care come together to in the service of others. Together, we are a force for good.”
