People Driven Credit Union Supports 2 Causes

DETROIT–People Driven Credit Union (PDCU) has distributed blankets and books to the Coalition on Temporary Shelter and the Ronald McDonald House for children in need. Approximately 80 employees were involved in kickstarting the winter-comfort packages.

Blankets were initially created during an annual training event on Nov. 10. The effort was incorporated as a community involvement project to reinforce PDCU’s commitment to the areas in which it serves, and teams also brought in books to accompany blankets for children. GreenPath Financial Wellness sponsored the event and its supplies, the credt union said.

“For 89 years, our institution has been dedicated to helping our members and their families, but we are also responsible in part for the welfare of our communities beyond the budget,” said Renee DeMarco, president and CEO at People Driven Credit Union. “It’s paramount that we help where we can and when most needed; the literature and warmth provided by our employees to those in need will hopefully go a long way as we enter the winter months.”

The holiday season is not the only time PDCU steps up to the plate in serving others. PDCU is also a proud sponsor of Detroit Arsenal Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (Detroit Family and MWR): a network enhancing the quality of life of everyone in the U.S. Army community.

“We truly value that we don’t just move people’s banking in a new direction, but the community members themselves. They are the foundation on which we hang our hats on, and we love any chance we can to make it known how significant they are to us,” said DeMarco.

The credit union is also historically involved in breast cancer awareness, food banks to feed hungry families and a casual dress Friday fund to lend aid to a diverse set of initiatives.
