Pennsylvania CU Foundation Announces Changes

HARRISBURG, Penn. --Louise Lingenfelser, CEO and treasurer of ClearChoice Federal Credit Union, was named the chairman of the board of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation (Foundation), and William Wehr, CEO of R-S Bellco Federal Credit Union, was appointed as treasurer. Two new directors were also appointed to serve on the board.

Lingenfelser is an active member of the Foundation and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (the Association), where she recently completed two years as the Association’s chairman of the board. Lingenfelser replaces Westmoreland Community Federal Credit Union CEO Maria LaVelle, who served as chairman for two years.

Wehr has served as CEO of R-S Bellco Federal Credit Union since 2008 and has served on the Association Board since 2012.  He replaces Jeff DeBree, CEO of Penn East Federal Credit Union, who is now the chairman of the Association’s board of directors.  Vice-Chairman Gail Cook, CEO of Widget Financial, and Secretary Amy Lichwa, CEO of Norwin Teachers Federal Credit Union, will continue in their respective offices.

The newest Foundation directors, David Whitehead and John Murga, have been appointed to replace Todd Cover, CEO of USSCO Federal Credit Union, and DeBree, whose terms ended in May.

Whitehead is the CEO of Merck Sharp & Dohme FCU, and has been a member of the credit union movement for 27 years. He has served on the Association’s awards committee, as well as the Board of the Montgomery County Chapter of Credit Unions, and on the Mid-Atlantic Corporate FCU Board.

Murga serves as the CEO of Hidden River Federal Credit Union and will join the board as a representative of the Association’s board. Murga has been active in the credit union movement for over 25 years. He serves as a director for the Association, is a former president of the Anthracite Chapter of Credit Unions, and a former director of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Credit Unions.

The Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation, a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, is a nonprofit organization based in Harrisburg, PA.  The Foundation serves the needs of small credit unions, supports financial education initiatives, assists with costs related to credit union staff development, and provides disaster relief when help is needed most­­­.
