Peach State's C.A.R.E.S. Foundation Funds $177K in Schlolarships

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.– The Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation has named the recipients of more than $177,000 in scholarships and educational grants.  Since 2002, Peach State’s scholarship program has awarded more than $1.7 million to students and members throughout its service area.

“As the credit union celebrates our 60th anniversary of being founded by Gwinnett County educators, we are thrilled to honor that foundation through our support of the educational aspirations of nearly 50 local students and members,” said Peach State’s president/CEO, Marshall Boutwell. “We are proud to honor our past while supporting the growth of future leaders through these scholarships and educational grants.”

Twenty-six Career Advancement Scholarships were awarded to members to assist in their continuing education in honor of the credit union’s founders.

The credit union originally planned to award five Legacy Student Scholarships to high school seniors who will be attending college to pursue a degree in education. These scholarships were established in honor of past and present board members and employees who have served Peach State for 20 years or more. After reviewing so many outstanding applications, two additional students were awarded a Legacy Student Scholarship.

Sixteen school system and community honoree scholarships were awarded as a tribute to the following school systems and leaders:
