Peach State FCU Awards $149,000 In Scholarships

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.–– Peach State Federal Credit Union has announced the winners of more than $149,000 in scholarships and educational grants, designed to honor the credit union’s founders, as well as past and present board members and employees. Additional scholarships were also awarded to honor the lifetime achievements of several notable school system and community leaders. 

Nineteen $2,000 Career Advancement Scholarships were awarded to members to assist in their continuing education in honor of the credit union’s founders.

Eight $2,500 school system and community honoree scholarships were awarded in honor of the following school systems and leaders: Anderson Byers, retired Superintendent of Jackson County School System; Rick Cost, former Chief Financial Officer for Gwinnett County Public Schools; Gracewood, honoring the service of the former Richmond Community Federal Credit Union Board;  Dan Cromer, retired Barrow County School System Superintendent; Dr. John Jackson, retired Superintendent of the Oconee County School System; Brian J. Mulherin, Sr., late Board Member of Richmond Community Federal Credit Union;  Louise Radloff, member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education; and J. Alvin Wilbanks, CEO and Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools

Two $2,500 scholarships were awarded in honor of the lifetime achievements of Janet Pomeroy and Pearlie Woods to Clarke County high school graduates on the basis of financial need, academic credentials, and a demonstrated commitment to community service.  The scholarships were awarded to:
