Partner Colorado Awards Scholarship, Seefried Award

ARVADA, Colo.–Partner Colorado Foundation has announced the 2018 college scholarship winners and the recipient of the Seefried Award. Twenty-two students will receive a combined $47,000 to further their education. Student winners were selected based on accomplishments in the areas of academics, community service and extracurricular activities.

In total, the scholarship program has awarded $363,000 to 249 students in 13 years.

“We are pleased to award these scholarships,” said Foundation Board Chairperson Frances Owens. “They have been a core part of our mission to make a difference in people’s lives and it’s gratifying to support these particular students in such a direct way.”

Named for the Foundation’s founder, Sundie Seefried, Partner Colorado Credit Union’s CEO, the $7,000 Seefried Award is given to the highest-scoring scholar. This year’s recipient is Jasmine Rascon, a senior at Ellicott High School in Calhan, Colo. Jasmine is valedictorian of her 2018 graduating class with a 4.2 GPA and active in basketball, student government, cheerleading, band and more. She will be attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins as a Political Science major and plans to pursue a career as an immigration attorney.

“The Partner Colorado board of directors is proud of the Foundation’s scholarship program and how it helps students offset tuition costs, as they pursue their education and careers,” said Board Chairman Al Lujan. “The decision to create the scholarship program is another example of Sundie Seefried’s outstanding leadership and commitment to creating programs that benefit our members and communities. Sundie, along with Foundation president, Tami Anderson, continue to work together to stay true to the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and giving back to our communities.”
