CONCORD, Calif.–Pacific Service Credit Union recently supported three non-profit organizations, one with programs that aid youth with health challenges, another that assists local families in need of food, and a third supporting a regional children’s hospital.
In support of the Diabetes Youth Foundation (DYF), Pacific Service CU provided camp scholarships to two low income children from Concord with type 1 diabetes. The DYF offers a camp for diabetic youth and their families so they can attain the courage, competence and confidence to live well with type 1 diabetes. The credit union has made donations to DYF programs since 2004.
Also this quarter, Pacific Service CU donated $10,000 to the summer food program at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. The food bank provides food to needy families during the summer months, when donations are historically low. As with the DYF, the credit union has been actively involved with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano since 2004.
In addition to the contributions, Pacific Service CU participated in Valley Children’s Hospital’s annual Kids Day celebration. The fundraiser brought together an estimated 5,000 volunteers, including volunteers from Pacific Service CU’s Fresno branch, in an effort to sell a special addition of the Fresno Bee newspaper on street corners throughout Fresno. All funds raised by the sale of the paper went directly to Valley Children’s Hospital, which provides medical treatment to children who live throughout Central California, regardless of their ability to pay. Pacific Service CU contributed $6,000 to this year’s effort, and has been a sponsor of this event since 2001.
In addition to charitable giving on behalf of its members, Pacific Service Credit Union also sponsors events that raise funds for local programs, including the 6th annual Credit Union SacTown Run. The 10th annual Contra Costa Kops for Kids Run creates funding for active and retired police officers who devote their time to programs that prevent violence, drug abuse, gang activity, and juvenile delinquency within the community.
Throughout the year, Pacific Service Credit Union said it donates approximately $125,000 annually to various 501(c)(3) organizations.
