PSECU Opens Fin Ed Center at Lehigh University

BETHLEHEM, Penn.–PSECU has opened a Financial Education Center at Lehigh University. PSECU, the official credit union of Lehigh Athletics, opened the facility within the university’s newly renovated Building C on the Mountaintop Campus.

“PSECU’s Financial Education Centers aim to give students the resources they need to manage the financial challenges unique to the college experience. They also offer students access to a financial institution that can make a positive impact on their lives long after they graduate because, like we tell our students, ‘once a member, always a member,’” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “It’s really about helping people build a foundation for financial success. The college years are a pivotal time to start that process.”

Since 2000, PSECU said it has been forging strong relationships with educational partners across Pennsylvania, making strategic investments that benefit all campus community members, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The Lehigh University location is the credit union’s 24th Financial Education Center.

"We're pleased to welcome PSECU and their Financial Education Center to Lehigh's campus and look forward to the partnership," said Patricia A. Johnson, Vice President of Finance and Administration for Lehigh University.

In addition to providing financial services, PSECU said it is committed to engaging with the Lehigh University community through student internship opportunities and financial education workshops. PSECU’s paid on-campus internship opportunities will be available to students who are interested in gaining real-world experience in areas such as marketing and business operations. The financial education workshops will be open to members of the campus who are interested in learning more about managing their finances.

Already, five Lehigh University students have been offered paid, part-time internship positions to staff the PSECU Financial Education Center. The students will work alongside Candice Richards, PSECU’s Community Manager at Lehigh University.

“Our campus locations are also staffed by PSECU-hired student interns that are overseen by a professional Community Manager so they can best help their peers,” explained Mike Verotsky, PSECU Director of University Development. “From paid internships and online resources, to financial education seminars and student scholarships, PSECU makes significant investments in the growth and development of young individuals so they are better prepared for what’s to come before entering the workforce – and what comes after.”

The location of the PSECU Financial Education Center in Lehigh University’s Building C is fitting as the building serves as the hub for the university’s Data X initiative dedicated to innovation in computing and data analytics. Also focused on technology, PSECU operates primarily in the digital space by providing its more than 430,000 members with cutting-edge electronic banking services through mobile and online platforms.

Three PSECU ATMs are also resources available at Lehigh University. They are located at the Mountaintop Campus (accepts deposits), Taylor Gym, and Stabler Arena.
