Oregon State CU Conducts 3rd Annual Shred Days

CORVALLIS, Ore.– Three annual Oregon State Credit Union Free Community Shred Days in Albany, Corvallis and Keizer served more than 1,800 residents with secure disposal of 57,743 pounds of sensitive documents this year.

In addition, the credit union took in 1,837 pounds of food and another $1,100 in cash donations for the local Food Shares during the events.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the collective shredding and recycling of paperwork at the three events saved more than 476 trees, 196,000 gallons of water, 92 cubic yards of landfill and more than 2,200 gallons of oil saved. It also prevented more than 1,680 cubic yards of pollutants from entering the atmosphere. The credit union matched the first $700 of cash donations dedicated to the Marion-Polk County Food Share or the Linn-Benton Food Share.
