HERNDON Va. –More than 100 guests, including members transacting business at Northwest Federal Credit Union’s Herndon branch, were treated to the NFCU’s first-ever Spring ArtFest. The event showcased artwork by members of the League of Reston Artists (LRA), one of Northwest Federal’s Community Partners. From acrylic, oil, and mixed-media paintings, to photography and Oriental brush paintings, guests were able to view and purchase a variety of artists’ creations.
“We were pleased to work with the League of Reston Artists as part of our new Community Partners program to give local area artists an opportunity to display their work in a new venue,” says Chris McDonald, President/CEO of Northwest Federal. “Northwest Federal is committed to our communities, including supporting the arts and creative expression.”
For its first ArtFest, the credit union exhibited the work of Charlene Fuhrman-Schulz, Rudy Guernica, Karen Hutchison, Antonella Manganelli, Regina Petrecca and Jim Schlett. Al Robertson, a Herndon native, guitar instructor, jazz musician, and active advocate for the arts in the community, provided musical entertainment for the event.
The ArtFest is the first of many events Northwest Federal plans to hold in conjunction with its Community Partners. The Community Partners program supports local groups that share the CU’s commitment to enhancing the communities it serves – particularly efforts focused on education and outreach. Program partners are eligible for membership at Northwest Federal and are able to apply for Community Partner grants to request funding for their projects that enrich the local community.
