Northwest FCU Foundation Supports Kids in Crisis

HERNDON, Va.–Northwest FCU Foundation recently held its second annual Kids in Crisis drive, collecting more than 400 plush toys, blankets, and other comfort items for local first responders to provide to children in crisis situations.

“The Kids in Crisis drive supports the vital work our first responders perform to help children at some of the most difficult points in their lives, while also fulfilling our mission to advocate for the health and well-being of young people in our community,” said Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation Kaycee Childress. “We are so touched by the generosity of those who donated to this important initiative and grateful beyond words for their support.”

The NWFCU Foundation kicked off the drive by visiting four fire stations in Herndon, Fairfax and Reston, VA and two police stations in Ashburn and Herndon. During the visits, the NWFCU Foundation provided lunch vouchers and koozies in partnership with Mission BBQ in Chantilly, Va.

Blankets and stuffed animals collected during the drive were donated to the Ashburn Station of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department, the Leesburg Police Department, and the Fairfax County Police Department.
