OSCODA, Mich.–Northland Area Federal Credit Union hosted the Gaylord Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event. Despite the rain 125 chamber members and guests came together at the beautiful Otsego Club to socialize and support an important cause.
NAFCU said it was especially honored to have the Gaylord VFW there. That night, the VFW sponsored a silent auction to raise money to build a new Veterans building. The new building will replace the old VFW hall which had to be demolished because if was no longer safe. Where the old hall had difficult stairways, the new hall will be built to accommodate those who’ve come home from service with disabilities.
Twenty-six Gaylord area businesses donated the items that were auctioned to benefit this important cause. Together, the proceeds from the silent auction along with 50/50 raffle ticket sales and individual donations totaled more than $2,100.00 for the Raise the Roof Fund.
