Northland Area FCU Opens New HQ

ALPENA, Mich.– Northland Area Federal Credit Union has opened its new headquarters building on Bagley St. here. The CU noted that due to health department requirements, the lobby remains closed, but an ATM, a drive-through and night deposit remain available.

“Northland is thankful to the Alpena community for welcoming us to the area.  We are proud to invest in the surrounding community as we support members and small businesses with financial expertise coupled with a wide variety of products and services to meet their individual needs," CEO and President Pete Dzuris said. "From the very beginning of the planning process, the City of Alpena has been easy to work with and very accommodating for the needs of Northland's expansion.”

The new headquarters features tall efficient glass windows and generous natural light.  Also featured are tall ceilings and open spaces between its four floors.

"Having a larger headquarters will allow room for more growth to be able to better support our member base of 49,000 plus members. Our mission statement is to be our members' most trusted financial partner," said Marketing Director Matt Duthler. "In addition, our Oscoda branch location will remain a strong support branch for members of that community."

The contact center and member service staff will remain in Oscoda to serve membership.

Added AVP of Human Resources Annie Mead, "Northland recently won the 2020 Michigan Credit Union League Outstanding Credit Union of the Year Award.  With the award and a beautiful modern facility, Northland is primed to become an employer of choice in northeastern Michigan. There are currently several open positions in Alpena and more to come, here and at other branches, as we grow.”

The credit union said ergonomic flexibility was also an important objective with the build, and nearly all offices on the upper floors feature electronic stand-up desks, allowing staff to stretch their legs throughout the day. There is a dual section lunchroom for employees to catch the news on the TV and converse or quietly sit and read a book.  Also, each floor has small breakrooms for employee accommodations.  Each level has floor-to-ceiling windows, which allow great views, including balconies on the upper floors, NAFCU added.

The $539-million Northland Area FCU

currently has 15 locations in Northeast Michigan.
