CHESTERFIELD, Mo.–NewGround, an architecture, design, and project management firm, has announced its continuing partnership with the Pujols Family Foundation to serve and support the community of Batey Aleman in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
Together, NewGround, in partnership with the Pujols Family Foundation and executives with their families from Edward Jones, completed another mission trip to support the efforts of ConGracia, a new sponsorship program in the Dominican Republic. ConGracia translated means, “with grace.”
The collective goal is to serve and support this community with grace by listening to the needs of its people and providing the resources they need to not simply survive, but to thrive. Designing and building a community center for the ConGracia program is one of the near term goals. This community center will be a multi-tiered project that will include an office, vocational center, classrooms, medical exam rooms, art and music, culinary training, and computer lab, the company said.
“We are honored to support the ConGracia vision with the Pujols Family Foundation and Dan Timm from Edward Jones to better serve the Dominican Republic community and provide them with the resources they need to strengthen themselves,” said Jeff Winter, Senior Vice President of Marketing at NewGround.
During their stay, volunteers helped renovate the Batey Aleman Baseball Complex. New public restrooms at the ballpark were constructed utilizing environmentally-friendly materials. The building blocks used are made from discarded, recycled plastic, a concept that will be incorporated in the construction of the ConGracia center.
Volunteers included NewGround’s Javier Fernandez, Ralph Nelson and Jeff Winter, alongside Pujols Family Foundation’s Executive Director Toddy Perry and Pastor Bernard Okeke, and Edward Jones’ Dan Timm and associated families.
