MOBILE, Ala.— New Horizons Credit Union’s employees presented a check for $200 along with boxes of needed supplies to the Penelope House representing fund raising efforts held during June.
New Horizons Credit Union staff raised funds through special jeans days and advertised branch locations as supply drop-off sites. Penelope House was chosen to help based on the results of an annual internal survey whereby New Horizons Credit Union staff selects the Corporate Charities they want to see their CU support. For 2017, Penelope House was selected as one of the Corporate Charities.
The prevention of domestic violence through education and public awareness is the goal of Penelope House. The Penelope House can provide refuge for victims and their children when their lives are in imminent danger. The temporary shelter allows escape from a violent situation.
“I am proud with how our employees and members respond to the needs of our community – especially to help organizations like Penelope House continue to do the good work they provide,” said New Horizons Credit Union president/CEO, Lisa Corvo.
