WILLISTON, Vt.– Four times each year, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) selects four recipient organizations at random to receive $625 each, for a total of $10,000 annually. NEFCU’s community giving donations for the third quarter of 2017 were:
- Ronald McDonald House Charities, to sponsor the 5th Annual 2017 Jingle Bell Express. Ronald McDonald House is the “home away from home” for families with seriously ill children seeking treatment at the UVM Children’s Hospital. The Jingle Bell Express, held Nov. 25-26, is two days of festive, round-trip train rides from Burlington to Charlotte—the perfect way for families to kick off the holiday season.
- Healing Winds of Vermont, to help service and maintain the Gypsy Wind sailboat. Healing Winds of Vermont gives patients and caregivers a unique opportunity to share important time together while enjoying the beauty of sailing on Lake Champlain. The organization’s recently acquired Gypsy Wind is a 39-foot O’Day sailing vessel donated in 2017 to help Healing Winds of Vermont expand its mission and make a difference in the lives of those challenged by cancer.
- Franklin County Animal Rescue, for its capital campaign. Franklin County Animal Rescue has been saving cats and dogs since 1964. It promotes the health, welfare, and humane treatment of animals in Northwestern Vermont by providing temporary shelter with the goal of finding them good, permanent homes. Capital campaign funds will help upgrade the shelter and support operating expenses as well.
- UVM Children's Hospital, to support the 4th Annual Miracle Network Dance Marathon at the UVM RALLYTHON 2018. RALLYTHON is a year-long fundraising effort that culminates in a 12-hour dance marathon in the UVM student center. Participants dance for 12 hours—the length of a nurse’s shift. Every dollar raised benefits the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in many ways, including buying new equipment, making the hospital comfortable and child-friendly, and helping families with travel and food expense.
