BATON ROUGE, La.—Neighbors Federal Credit Union and the Neighbors Capital Area Foundation awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships and educational assistance to local students and educators during the organization’s 9th Annual Neighbors Way Tuition Assistance Awards Breakfast.
The credit union recognized 15 student recipients from high schools across the Baton Rouge region and surrounding communities. The awards ranged from one-time $1,000 tuition assistance grants to the Greg Inman Memorial Scholarship, a four-year, $20,000 scholarship named for the credit union’s former chief operations officer. This year’s scholarship recipient was Sydni Wheeler of Baton Rouge Magnet High School.
Neighbors FCU also presented its Neighbors Kinship Award, which provides $1,000 to qualifying graduating seniors whose parent or legal guardian has worked for the credit union for at least one year. In addition, the credit union honored three educators with its 2026 Neighbors Educator Impact Award, recognizing teachers and school leaders nominated by scholarship recipients for their influence on students’ lives. Each educator received a $1,000 award.
Over the past nine years, Neighbors FCU said it has awarded approximately $563,000 in scholarships to students throughout its community. The Neighbors Capital Area Foundation supports education-focused and community initiatives through scholarships, grants and volunteer efforts across the greater Baton Rouge area.
