Nearly 900 CU Staff, Members Attend Orioles Game

COLUMBIA, Md.—Although the home team lost, Baltimore-area CUs scored a win during post-game fireworks at Camden Yards, home of the Orioles here. Nearly 900 credit union employees and members packed the stadium and cheered on the O’s as they took on the Houston Astros. Despite the disappointment, tens of thousands of fans stuck around for the spectacular, post-game fireworks display sponsored by Baltimore Area Credit Unions.

“Our credit unions and their members had the chance to show their Oriole pride, and we had the opportunity to leverage an event, attended by tens of thousands of people, to raise awareness about the credit union difference,” said John Bratsakis, president/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association. “It was a prime opportunity to reach potential members and educate them about the benefits of joining a credit union.”

Prior to the game, 2,000 beverage coozies and flyers promoting the credit union difference were handed out to fans. The flyer directed fans to aSmarterChoice.org to find a credit union.

Fireworks Night was sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter of MD|DC Credit Union Association, MD|DC Credit Union Association, CUNA Mutual’s TruStage insurance program, the Love My Credit Union campaign, and 12 CUs:
