Naveo CU Awards 3 Scholarships

SOMERVILLE, Mass.– Naveo Credit Union said its Scholarship Committee awarded three scholarships of $1,500 each to local students during a small ceremony held at its Somerville branch.

Scholarship recipients for the 2021-2022 school year were Marina Braga of Bedford, N.H.; Noor Khurram of Malden, Mass., and Rachel Junta of Wakefield, Mass.

Scholarship recipients are anonymously selected based on financial need, scholastic merit as well as community and school involvement.

“At Naveo, we are firm believers in education being an important component of a person’s lifelong journey,” said Paul Ferreira, scholarship committee chair. “This very much includes financial literacy and how it relates to one’s life, which was also the chosen topic for this year’s Scholarship Award. On behalf of the Scholarship Committee, we would like to thank this year’s applicants for their efforts and participation in addressing this important topic. It was a pleasure to review all the responses, and an honor to present this year’s scholarships to our finalists. Congratulations to this year’s scholarship award recipients. We wish the applicants and recipients, the very best and a great journey ahead.  Good luck, and make your goals happen!”

Named after former board members for their dedication to education, the Carlos Faria and Victor Da Silva Memorial Scholarship Fund has been a part of the Credit Union since the 1980s.
