NWFCU Foundation Hosts a Night of Magic

HERNDON, Va.–The NWFCU Foundation, the charitable arm of Northwest FCU, held its Neon Night Glow Run with 260 individuals participating to raise funds to support this year’s Night of Magic. Each year the NWFCU Foundation hosts the Night of Magic at Inova Children’s Hospital to provide critically ill children and their families an opportunity to have a night of fun during a challenging time in their lives. This year the children were treated to an action-packed night with their own costumes, face painting, a DJ and visits from superheroes.

The event holds a special place in the hearts of the NWFCU Foundation, Northwest Federal and its employees, corporate sponsors, organizational partners, and other individuals throughout the community. For that reason, the NWFCU Foundation presented a check in the amount of $7,500 – the largest donation the NWFCU Foundation has made to date – to support the Inova Cares Clinic for Children, which provides primary pediatric care for children of low-income families.

“We truly appreciate our continued partnership with the NWFCU Foundation and their generous donation to our Inova Cares Clinic,” said Inova Children’s Hospital’s Senior Manager, Child Life Services, Jamie Gentille. “The Night of Magic is a unique event that has touched the lives of so many children and their families over the years, and we are thankful for the difference it has made to our patients.”

In addition, the NWFCU Foundation surprised 120 families in attendance at the Night of Magic with a $25 gas card as a way to help alleviate some of the financial strain the families face while their children are going through medical crises.

“Our hope is that the Night of Magic touches the lives of these children and their families long after the night is over,” said President and CEO of Northwest Federal, and Chairman of the NWFCU Foundation’s Board of Directors, Jeff Bentley. “Whether through a gas card that helps defray the cost of driving to treatment, or a picture with their favorite superhero that helps these children remember this special night, it is all about celebrating their lives.”

In attendance were 60 volunteers from Northwest Federal supporting the NWFCU Foundation’s commitment to help youth celebrate life by supporting their health and well-being.

“I want to extend a very sincere and special thanks to all of the volunteers, committee co-chairs, individuals who donated and or purchased raffle tickets, the Northwest Federal and NWFCU Foundation Board of Directors, and Northwest Federal and its employees who helped fundraise,” said Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Alexzandra Shade. “It’s because of your hard work and teamwork that we were able to make a difference in the lives of these deserving children.”
