NEW YORK--Municipal Credit Union has hired Sonita DiStefano as Vice President & Head of Residential Lending.
DiStefano, who was appointed to the MCU Senior Management Team by President & CEO Mark Ricca, will oversee the credit union’s $1 billion mortgage portfolio and team of 40 mortgage professionals.
DiStefano, who is a certified HUD/FHA Endorsement Underwriter, comes to MCU with nearly three decades of experience. Most notably, she served as the Vice President & Lending Manager at Home Loan Investment Bank F.S.B. for more than seven years. During her tenure, she performed several critical responsibilities, as she provided hands-on support to all areas of residential lending, on-boarded and trained highly skilled staff, and implemented operations policies, procedures and objectives to ensure the timely and compliant funding and purchase of high quality loan files, the CU said.
She has additionally held the title of Vice President & Residential Lending Manager at First American International Bank, where her responsibilities included the management of bulk loan sales and direct effective support to her staff.
A graduate of Johnson and Whales University, DiStefano belongs to several distinguished professional organizations, including Women in Banking and Finance, the New England Mortgage Bankers Association, and the Rhode Island Bankers Association. She joined Municipal Credit Union in March 2019, as part of the credit union’s continued efforts to bolster its management and senior management teams. She is joined by recently on-boarded MCU executives Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer Shannon Mashburn, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Lisa Mingoia, Senior Vice President & Chief Audit Executive Amanprit Kaller and Vice President & Chief Risk Officer Richard Cowell.
