Municipal CU Names Abdallah to Board

NEW YORK CITY - Municipal Credit Union has appointed Tony Abdallah to its Board of Directors.  Abdallah, who previously served on MCU's Nominating Committee, assumes the role of Director, filling the vacancy created by the departure of former Board Chair Sylvia G. Ash.

“MCU is thrilled to have Tony Abdallah accept the appointment onto our Board," said MCU Board Chair James Durrah. “He brings a great wealth of managerial expertise and knowledge in city government, budgeting and operational efficiency, and strategic planning to our Board.  With his appointment, MCU and our members will now be the beneficiaries of his vast and deep experience."

Abdallah has spent more than 30 years with New York City Transit (NYCT), beginning as a train operator. Since that time, he has held several positions within the NYCT and is currently Chief Officer, Rail Control Center and Support in the Department of Subway’s Service Delivery Division. In this position, he focuses on leading the technological development of the NYC Subway system for operational optimization and continued development of state of the art security and emergency management systems. Abdallah, who holds a Masters Degree in Transportation Management from NYU/Polytechnic University, resides in Brooklyn, NY.

2016 is Municipal Credit Union's Centennial Celebration year. Called the Credit Union of Employees Conference Committee when it first opened its doors on October 15, 1916 in Manhattan's Municipal Building, MCU has been growing strong ever since. Today, MCU serves more than 400,000 members. MCU is celebrating its 100th anniversary all during 2016 through various programs to give back to the communities it serves.
