Mountain West CU Assn. Holds Annual Meeting

DENVER/PHOENIX––The Mountain West Credit Union Association drew more than 600 attendees and released its annual report during its annual report at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Credit unions from Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming make up the regional membership. 

“At the Association, we see our role as being a force protecting our member credit unions in all areas,” said John Uchida, chairman of the association board of directors and president and CEO of Space Age Federal Credit Union in Aurora, Colo. “We greatly adhere to the principles of building financial stability, democratic control, and ongoing education, among others. We take these very seriously and it is reflected in our ability to provide a significant value for our member credit unions.”

Sttendees were challenged by the closing keynote: Overcoming Challenge with Matthew "Griff" Griffin, co-founder of Combat Flip Flops in Kabul, Afghanistan. A Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Engineering Management, Griff served in the 75th Ranger Regiment as a Rifle Company Fire Support Officer with three tours to Afghanistan and one tour to Iraq. 

“The Annual Meeting & Convention gives member credit union representatives the chance to learn valuable insights relevant to our industry,” said Scott Earl, president and CEO of the Mountain West Credit Union Association. “It is also a time for idea collaboration and celebration of the past year’s successes. We are truly part of a great movement.”
