SANDY, Utah–To help support our local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mountain America matched employee donations to local food banks.
In total, $20,300 was donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Arizona, Idaho Food Bank, Three Square Food Bank in Nevada, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Road Runner Food Bank in New Mexico, and Utah Food Bank. The donations provided more than 104,000 meals to families and individuals in need.
Mountain America said giving back is part of its DNA, and that is recognizes the bravery and courage of the teams working on the frontlines to battle the coronavirus. To support medical workers, Mountain America donated 2,500 N-95 respirator masks from our emergency supplies to the Utah Division of Emergency Management. Additionally, Mountain America partnered with several of our business members to provide nearly 500 meals to frontline workers at hospitals, health departments, clinics, and testing centers in Idaho and Utah.
Separately, noting the first five years of a child’s life are critical for development, Mountain America CU partnered with the Southwest Human Development and the Arizona Coyotes to open six Little Free Libraries at its Arizona branches. In conjunction with the branch libraries, a Virtual Library has been launched to expand access, providing even more opportunities for early childhood literacy, the credit union said.
