REDWOOD CITY, Calif.– Monterra Credit Union has awarded five scholarships for $5,000 apiece to deserving college-bound students.
"At Monterra Credit Union, we believe in investing in the future of our community," said President and CEO Wade Painter. "These scholarships are a testament to our mission of supporting financial wellness and providing opportunities for educational advancement. We are thrilled to support these outstanding students as they pursue their academic dreams."
Established in 2004, Monterra Credit Union's scholarship program assists graduating high school seniors with college or technical school costs such as tuition, housing, books, and meals. To qualify, applicants are required to have at least a 3.0 GPA and submit transcripts, letters of recommendation, and an essay on a topic that changes each year.
This year's scholarship recipients come from five local high schools: Westmoor High School, Woodside High School, Carlmont High School, Sequoia High School, and Menlo-Atherton High School.
The scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, community involvement, and financial need. Monterra Credit Union said it is committed to creating opportunities that empower young individuals to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
